Spiced Blueberry Mango Fizz or Blueberry Aam Panna, a simple water spritz that’s a cooling drink with mango puree and blackberry-fresh mint leaves. Made with or without alcohol, this bubbly beverage is a warm weather favorite!
Summers in Southern Part of India might not be unbearable, but it is above normal temperatures, accompanied by hazy conditions. April and May are quite uncomfortable and it’s also the months we celebrate New Year and Rath Yatra. Crazy rigtht?! Sweat beads on our foreheads and the feeling of flushed pink cheeks makes you lethargic and you start wondering if it shall pass. You feel closer to Sun god, and have the urge to take perpetual baths. But, turn on the cold shower and warm water from hot water tanks gets too hot to handle. So in this situation, the only thing to do is to pray and to sit in a room, curtains pulled in, a cold bubbly fizzy drink and relax.
What helps during this season is: buttermilk drink/mor, aam panna, chikoo, mangoes(the best), and my favorite Asian palmyra palm. Bangalore fruits feel like sugar was added when growing them.
Here’s my version of the popular Indian drink, Mango Fizz or Aam Panna which will definitely cool you off.
With the sparkling water or any sparkling drink of your choice, this Blueberry Mango Fizz is sure to get you addicted.
Made with sparkling mineral water, seasonal fruit, and fresh herbs, fruit spritzer waters are the perfect summer chillers.
Let’s make my new favorite sparkling drink, the Blueberry Mango Fizz!
What is a Fizz?
A fizz, sometimes referred to as a “spritz,” is a chilled drink made with sparkling mineral or soda water.
Oftentimes a spritzer will refer to a wine spritzer, which is a cocktail made with white wine and sparkling water. However, the term can also be used for any chilled bubbly drink made from sparkling beverages, whether they have alcohol or not.
A water spritzer is a drink made from sparkling mineral water and is typically flavored with fresh fruit and herbs.
How to make Blueberry Aam Panna or Blueberry Mango Fizz
Preparing Blueberry Aam Panna or Mango Fizz with fresh summery fruits is the best. Puree the mango with sugar, and the blueberry with sugar. Muddle the blueberry with some mint and pour the mango and blueberry syrup, top with Sparkling water or Soda. The best way to flavor spritzers is to make a fruit puree from scratch using fresh seasonal fruit and herbs.
While this Blueberry Mango Fizz takes advantage of summer’s fresh berries, here are a few other fruit spritz variation ideas to make throughout the year:
- Spring: fresh strawberries, blackberries, or blueberries; fresh mint, thyme, or lavender
- Summer: stone fruits like peaches, nectarines, and plums; fresh basil
- Fall: cranberries, grapes, apples, pears; sage
- Winter: pomegranates, blood oranges, mandarins; rosemary
