Red Velvet Cookies are a must make for Christmas. Baking and holiday season is upon us and I’m so happy to be bring this festive recipe for you. Buttery pillows of rich dreamy thumbprint cookies topped with cream cheese and white chocolate mixed in with cashews.
Red velvet cookies or cake is definitely one of the most festive looking treats for Christmas and the holidays. It’s the sweet marriage of cream cheese and vanilla with a little cocoa for good measure. She’s beautiful, dramatic, and completely topped with cream cheese and white chocolate frosting. This is my favorite.
These cookies are a blend of my two favorites, chocolate and vanilla. In my opinion red velvet shouldn’t be overpowered with chocolate. Red velvet desserts to me is a combination of vanilla and chocolate.
WhenI make a red velvet cookie they are somewhat mild on the cocoa. When you use too much cocoa it depletes that beautiful red color, it turns it more of a brownish auburn shade rather than a velvety red.
I also tried making these cookies with granulated sugar to keep the red color intact.
And to all you early holiday bakers out there. these would go great on the Christmas. Enjoy!
How Should a red velvet dessert taste like?
I had my doubts about the red velvet treats. What is red velvet dessert? Is it vanilla, chocolate, or just a butter cake tinted red?
Red Velvet Cookie or Cakes are:
- Mild cocoa flavor
- Tangy buttermilk or cream cheese
- Sweet vanilla
- Very buttery
All of the above flavors are key to getting the perfect red velvet cookie. Not only is the flavor outstanding, red velvet cake’s texture is worth writing home about. It’s dense and soft with a moist and velvety crumb. However, the absolute best part about red velvet cookie is the tangy cream cheese. Slathered on thick, my frosting recipe is delicately sweet and undeniably creamy to cut down on the sweetness of the cookie.
My preferred choice of flour is Bob’s red mill. You can find many varieties of flour. Do you like red velvet dessert? If you make this red velvet cookies, make sure to tag me #foodfashionparty on social media.
