In my opinion these are the next best thing to Churros . These Churro french Toast Sandwiches are easy for anyone to make and is impressive. They’re crispy on the outside, soft and tender on the inside and they have a flavor no one can resist!
Who doesn’t love churros? Everyone loves them. From scratch, even better.
The next best thing are these French Toast Churros sandwiches that I stuffed with Hazelnut spread and Peanut butter-jelly.
A few days ago, my little one asked me what I wanted for valentines and I said, “nothing much my dear.” But, chocolate would be good. Then he goes on to ask, “do you have a recipe on your blog that is simple one, so I can make it for you…”? Which was too sweet of him. He wanted to make churros for me(partly because he was craving it:).
That’s how this recipe came to be.
I enjoy creating simple recipes that taste good, achievable and out of the world decadent. This churro inspired toast fits the criteria quite well.
Churro French Toast
They could be any shape. And if you’d like to show someone that you really love them 😉 , try your hand at these at these heart shaped french toast. Such an easy crowd pleaser!
You could use cardamom instead of cinnamon if you want to. While making these french toasts, make sure to dunk it in the cinnamon sugar mix immediately after the bread comes out of the pan. That way, the sugar sticks well and it does make a mess when eating.
Stuff them with anything, a jelly of your liking or hazelnut spread like I’ve done.
Don’t skimp on the butter and sugar mixture. This is a special treat.
- 6 slices of white bread
- 2 large egg
- ⅓ cup whole milk
- A few drops of vanilla-optional
- Dash of salt
- 4 Tablespoons butter for frying
- 3 tsp vegetable oil
- 3 tbsp white granulated sugar
- 4 Tablespoon brown sugar
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- Nutella for stuffing or jam
- Using a small heart shaped cookie cutter to cut out the hearts. Stale bread is recommended because it will soak up more egg mixture without falling apart. If the bread is not stale the hearts will lose their shape.
- Beat the egg with milk, vanilla and salt, set aside.
- Combine cinnamon and brown sugar and set aside.
- In a pan over medium-high heat melt the butter, reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the oil.
- Dip each heart in egg mixture to coat both sides, but don’t let it soak too much liquid and shake off excess egg mixture.
- Place the bread in the pan and fry about 45 seconds per side.
- Transfer the hearts in cinnamon-brown sugar mixture to coat well, press well and end serve immediately.
- Put it on a cooling rack. Spread some chocolate spread and make sandwiches or make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with them. Stuff only when you are ready to serve.
