Happy December my friends!!!
We are less than 4 weeks away from 2016. Really, how did that happen?!! I don’t know if we say this every year, but for some reason this year seems to have flown by a little bit too quickly.
Lets raise our glasses to cheer a good year. I am sure we all have had our good days and not-so-good ones, we all went through that and we are here. Glad for that.
A month to reflect on all the things we went through, a month to celebrate, a month to mingle, a month for cocktails and parties. To me December just screams coziness, warm hot cocoa, red sweaters, fire place and candles.
I also love my sweet cocktails and simple fruity syrups that I make to gift for Christmas.
This cocktail comes together in no time. Put everything in a blender and boil it with some ginger or any spice your like. I’ve added sugar, but you could add coconut sugar, cane sugar or leave the sugar out completely. Let cool and bottle it up.
What’s great is that they make perfect gifts. Make some infused Vodka, pack this syrup, a pretty glass and voila!, you have a pretty gift basket. I plan to do a post on my gift basket idea in a few days, and I’m so excited for that!
A beautiful red cocktail which can brighten any party. Cheers.
- 2 Pomegranate seeds
- ½ cup cane sugar(or according to your taste)
- 1 inch ginger thinly sliced
- 1-2 tbsp of the pomegranate syrup
- 1 ounce of vodka
- 1 tsp of lemon juice
- ½ cup of cherry soda, orange club soda or plain club soda
- Take the seeds out, the white part also and grind it in a blender.
- Pour the pomegranate puree it in a thick bottomed pan. Add the ginger and sugar. Bring it to a rolling boil and simmer for 15 minutes. Strain it with a sieve and cool it completely before bottling it. Refrigerate it.
- In a glass, add a tablespoon of the syrup,1 shot/ounce vodka, squeeze ½ lemon juice, add some ice cubes and pour the chilled soda.
- Garnish with rosemary, lemon wedge.

Asha – I so agree – this year seems to have flown by at warp speed – I wish things would slow down in 2016 – at least I can dream right?!
By the way – I am loving that Pomegranate Ginger Syrup – what an awesome idea it is – truth be told – I could just pour it over waffles and pancakes and be happy as pie – ooh – I could even pour it over pie – or ice cream…mmm mmm mmm!
And what a wonderful idea to hand them over as presents – the recipients of them would be thrilled at such an exquisite gift!

Why didn’t I think of that? You seriously are a genius. I am going to add that to my post, hope you don’t mind at all. You truly have the best idea.
